Ben LaMar Gay “Mestre Candeia’s Denim Hat”

Composer, singer and improviser Ben LaMar Gay has shared the video for the third single, “Mestre Candeia’s Denim Hat”, from his forthcoming album, Open Arms to Open Us, which due out on November 19th via International Anthem / Nonesuch Records.

The video was created by Andrea Rodea and Erik Mares, and is just as beautifully chaotic as the Gay's looping and wandering track.

Ben LaMar Gay "Sometimes I Forget How Summer Looks on You (feat. Ohmme)"

Singer and instrumental polymath Ben LaMar Gay has released the lead single, "Sometimes I Forget How Summer Looks on You", from his forthcoming album, Open Arms to Open Us, which is due out via International Anthem/Nonesuch on November 19th.

Across this new album LaMar Gay enlists the talents of his unusual bandmates Tommaso Moretti on drums, Matthew Davis on tuba, and Rob Frye on woodwinds. In addition he recruited the talents of OHMME singers Sima Cunningham and Macie Stewart, bassist/vocalist/arranger Ayanna Woods, multi-disciplinary Rwandan artist Dorothée Munyaneza, poet A.Martinez, cellist Tomeka Reid, and vocalists Onye Ozuzu, Gira Dahnee, and Angel Bat Dawid.

Ben LaMar Gay "Grapes"

Ben LaMar Gay has released a collection of beats, soundscapes, home recordings & field recordings called “Grapes” via International Anthem. All of these tracks were created between 2013 and 2014, and they give the listening a peak into the Gay’s creative process.

According to the label, this is a love letter to the Southside, and the first of six back catalogue releases coming from Gay over the next five months.
