After three years, Christoph and Anton Hochheim's passion project Ablebody celebrates individual exceptionalism in full with the release debut album Adult Contemporaries. The album—which includes the band's first sleeper hits "Backseat Heart" and "After Hours"—shimmers with tones redolent of sophisti-pop while casting light shade with its tongue-in-cheek title. Adult Contemporaries releases October 14 on Lollipop Records.

If music be the food of love, then consider The Golden Tongues polyamorous. That's the name of a new project by Chris Garcia, one half of Whittier's electronic post-rock duo Let's Drive to Alaska. 

In the first track to Golden Tongues' upcoming b/w, "Always On My Mind," Garcia sings in heart-on-sleeve cadence with an airy inflection that calms interjections of cardamom synths and guitar jangle. It's a measured effort, not to mention a solo effort since last year. And while the result might not capture the naiveté of Wild Nothing or Real Estate, it does rekindle the fluttery feeling of a new crush. As with his debut EP "Extractions," Garcia is still finding his love, but takes greater pleasure exploring musical flings than brooding in alexithymic solitude.

The Dreamgaze Festival is back, and this time it's happening at Los Globos.

Presented in tandem with DKFM, Dream Wave, Counter Culture, and KXLU, Dreamgaze Festival will feature bands of Los Angeles' alternative youth scene, including the post-rock quartet Young Lovers, coldwave/post-industrial group Cruelty Code, bi-coastal duo Ablebody, and dreamgazing band Cre·scen·do. The festival will also be graced by Florida's indie/electronic producer Millionyoung, Arizona's lo-fi shoegazers Shallow, San Francisco's dreamy power trio Balms, and more.

Presale tickets are available on the DreamGaze site, and a limited quantity will be sold at Origami Vinyl. More acts will be announced in the coming weeks, so this is looking to be a thoroughly packed show — don't wait up. The DreamGaze Festival's last iteration was held near Ontario and featured bands like Tennis System, SHEER, and the Italian dreampop Be Forest. If you missed Ablebody's performance at Young Lovers' Pehrspace residency, which included a preview of their new songs, fear not: the Hochheim brothers are playing tomorrow night at Harvard & Stone to support Bay Area musician Nedelle Torrisi for her June residency. Torrisi is a multi-instrumentalist who has toured with the likes of Sufjan Stevens, Of Montreal, and Deerhoof, among others. Also supporting will be Dylan Ryan / Sand, drummer Dylan Ryan's (Cursive, Icy Demons, Herculaneum, Tim Kasher) LA-based progressive jazz project.

Christoph Hochheim has an intimate history with New York's shoegaze/dreampop scene, as a past member of the now-defunct shoegaze/chiptune The Depreciation Guild and a current member of The Pains of Being Pure At Heart along with Anton Hochheim.

However, the brothers have also been working as Ablebody, a Los Angeles passion project that first featured remixes and covers, but later grew to self-release High Home, a three-song instrumental EP with ethereal cries, bent-out guitars, and dying electronics. 2013's All My Everybody EP developed with 80's soft and clipping synth vibes. Slower and more sensual, the five songs now had Christoph's warm and reassuring in front of the mix, even as the album dealt with more serious feels per an interview with BYT. Ablebody's latest release dates back to last year, but does a complete 360-reverse-moonwalk to the dancey indie pop "After Hours" before getting rugged with fuzzy B-side "Lose Your Head".

Ablebody will play their first set since early January this Friday for Young Lover's fifth night of residency along with Sacramento's glazed out indie pop quintet Soft Science and the jangle-psych group Deep Fields.
