Fog Father make their video debut with "RIP"

Treefort is finally here and many Portland bands are making the trek out to Boise to represent our city. Among them is the infectious indie pop of Fog Father, who've got some great things in the works. Last night was their tour kick off show at Rontoms and today they're making their music video debut with "RIP," off their Razzle Dazzle EP. The video is just at trippy as the song itself and a fair indication of how fun they are onstage.

Fog Father will be rockin a double play day at Treefort, playing the Gritty Birds Showcase with fellow Portlanders Bitch'n & And And And as well as their official Treefort performance at the Linen Building at 7:30pm. If you missed them last night and won't be in Idaho, enjoy "RIP" below.

Mt. Portland serves as the city's soundtrack

There's been quite the buzz flying around the Mt. Portland compilation, and that buzz could not be more warranted. An idea turned reality, solo musician Joel Magid saw how transmuted Portland and its music scene have become, and decided to capture it one track at a time. Featuring 13 of PDX's most beloved and brightest, like the Century, Talkative and what very well may be the last recording from Grandparents to name a few, the Mt. Portland compilation doesn't even come off as such thanks to its production. Each original, previously unreleased track was recorded at Buzz or Howl Studios by owner Stan Wright. Though the bands on the comp aren't bred of the same genre, Wright's analog recording technique melded each contributed track seamlessly, resulting in a collection that's more cohesive than just compiled. Both Wright and Magid fronted recording time, pressings and all other costs themselves, keeping the compilation not for profit and free for us to consume.

Stream the compilation below and check out the Mt. Portland release show tomorrow at Rontoms, for free. Performing will be Boone Howard and Michael Finn (the Domestics), Candace, Joel Magid himself and headlined by And And And

And And And's Bim Ditson to Launch His Mayoral Campaign Tonight at Bunk Bar!

And And And's kooky and lively drummer Bim Ditson announced late last month that he's gunning for Portland's 2016 mayoral seat. As a staple of Portland's music scene, Bim's announcement (spurred from a long-running joke) came as a welcomed surprise. Since he's so tight knit and beloved within the community, it's guaranteed he'll focus on what's important to us locals, stating that affordable housing will be the main focus of his campaign. "I want people to be able to afford their rent, " Bim told the Willamette Week. "Things like that are really important to me."

Those things are important to all of us out here in the streets, too, which is why heading down to Bunk Bar tonight for his campaign launch party is really important. There, he'll have all the necessary paperwork needed to get him officially on the ballot. The more people to show up and help out, the better his chances! Sam Coomes and Wooden Indian Burial Ground will be providing the tunes, we just need to provide the signatures. Doors are at 8pm and music begins at 10pm!

Be sure you're registered to vote in Oregon and to bring along a non-perishable food. The launch party is doubling as a Thanksgiving food drive to benefit the needy for the holidays.

Photo Recap: Treefort Music Festival

Treefort Music Fest 2015 was an absolute whirlwind. In their biggest and unarguably most successful year yet, the festival had non-stop fantastic musical curation throughout the entire long weekend. Waking up each morning with a gnarly hangover, the only admirable thing to do was to pop into Big City Coffee for a heartstopping breakfast burrito and a few cups of coffee while checking out the festival schedule to figure out your show and drinking route for the day, then, hit the ground running. Check out our photo recap, including shots of Viet Cong, Foxygen, Built To Spill, Yahct, And And And, Aan, The Domestics, Bed., Wooden Indial Burrial Ground, Grandparents and more. 2015 Treefort Music Festival Preview: Portland Artist Highlight

The fourth annual Treefort Music Festival is proving to be the biggest one yet. Not only is it their first year as a licensed LLC, but this year’s lineup is larger than any previous year with over 400 musical acts, not to mention whole mini-festivals dedicated to comedy, performance art, technology, yoga, skateboarding, beer, and then some.

With massive national musical acts headlining the festival like TV On The Radio, Built To Spill, Foxygen, Yacht, Viet Cong, Of Montreal and !!!, just to name a few, the $139 price of a full-weekend pass is pretty much already god damned steal, and that’s barely 1.5% of the full 2015 lineup. Adding to the glory of this year’s festival, the vast array of amazing Portland bands making the trip to Boise makes Portland one of the most represented cities of the festival. Think of it as a huge rager with all your favorite Portland bands and friends, just in a new, way more fun location.

To help you sort through all of the madness, here is a quick list of some of the Deli Portland’s favorite Portland bands who will be performing at this year’s Treefort Music Festival. Find out exactly where and when they will be playing during Treefort, here
