CreaturoS drops video for tribute to man's other best friend: "Short Shorts"

Our new summer anthem has arrived just in time for July 4th barbeques. Vanyaland just premiered the video for the latest by CreaturoS, “Short Shorts,” and the clip is a simple, colorful tribute to the oft-ridiculed menswear trend. “Walkin’ around town gettin’ shit for my short shorts,” the garage tune laments as protagonist Nightime Gallagher wipes tears away, defeated after being booted from a record store with a “No Short Shorts!” sign at the register. If you like what you hear, you can download “Short Shorts” for free over at the group’s Bandcamp page and see them play alongside Boy Toy and Tredici Bacci at Great Scott in Allston on July 18. – Jake Reed (@jakejreed)

Boston Fuzzfest Hit Central Square in Cambridge This August

New England noise rock paradise this summer is as close as Central Square in Cambridge with Boston Fuzzfest's lineup sporting a lineup of Ghost Box Orchestra, The New Highway Hymnal, Nice Guys, CreaturoS, Guillermo Sexo, The Fagettes, DOZE, and Moniker. For only ten bucks at the Middle East Downstairs, Fuzzfest is a solid stand-in for Somerville's Deep Heaven Now Festival (not taking place this year), and this year's show will potentially dictate whether the fest will expand in 2014. From garage to indie to punk and all things fuzz, there's something for everyone, and it'll be interesting to see how Fuzzfest paces eight bands in one night. You'll never know unless you're there, right?

Psychedelic garage-rock band CreaturoS working on new release

On October 30th, CreaturoS (Cambridge, MA) released their debut SWAMPP THINGG, available on cassette by DIY label pRIMORDIAL sOUNDS. This release will hit a magnificent distorted note for fans of JEFF the Brotherhood and Colleen Green. Garage psych-rock that leaves you want for nothing, this is spliff music at its finest. One of the consistent factors on the album is the vocals which sound like they were recorded through an air circulation vent. I don’t know if it was the bathroom they recorded it in, but “Three Times” is one of the album standouts, with a true psych sound that could’ve come directly out of the mid-60s with a sitar-sounding melody and fuzzy percussion. Get psyched, according to their blog they’re in the studio this month working on a new release.
