New Dulls EP Available for Streaming & Purchase

A new EP, Probably Never, is out now from the Philly quartet of Dulls. Silence precedes sound in the first track, “Another Kind,” as the album gradually opens. Grit and clarity converge in an ethereal, sonic capsule. The white-hot, searing tranquility is paced rapidly yet appears in a hazy vortex. Everything is rushing around in real time, but the objects seem to be moving in slow motion.

New Track: "New Dream" - Dulls

Fall languidly into the void of Dulls' new single, “New Dream,” before abruptly being snatched away in the turbulent waves of fuzzed-out guitar. The recording from Philly dream-pop/shoegaze four-piece reveals a giant leap forward in production from the group's self-titled debut EP. Recorded and mixed by John Ceparano (of The Stargazer Lilies), it’s the latest off the band’s forthcoming album, Moon Violet, due out February 24. Dulls are also set to open for No Joy that same evening at Kung Fu Necktie. (Photo by Caitlin Vivian)

Embrace the Ethereal Capacity of Dulls at Ortlieb's Sept. 11

A muggy yet enticing psych haze draws one toward the dream-like state that is Dulls. Then, as your about to drift into the sonic waters, a tumultuous typhoon appears, smacking you into shoegazing submission. Increasing gradually, the force of the storm becomes more evident, but once you’re in its volatile center, there’s no need to retreat. Embrace the ethereal capacity of searing guitars, incoming percussions and enchanting vocals. Tonight at Ortlieb’s, they’ll be paired with the drifting, ambient, time-warping tones of The Stargazer Lillies, the tempered, magnetic, enclosing harmony of The Lulls, and the cloud-exploring expanses of Tessellations. Ortlieb’s, 847 N. Third St., 8pm, $10, 21+ - Michael Colavita
