Honduras selected by Blur as support for Friday's 05.01 show at Rough Trade

Kudos to Brooklyn indie rockers Honduras, who have been hand picked by Blur to open for them at this coming Friday May 1st show at Rough Trade. The band has recently released this new single entitled "Paralyzed" (streaming below) from their upcoming album, which actually sounds a little like a blend of our NJ's favorite band of all times The Feelies and Blur during their more tense moments - with a punk chorus thrown in to spice things up a little.

We added this song to The Deli's playlist of Best songs by emerging NYC artists - check it out!

Honduras unveils video for "Mistake" + plays Bowery Electric on 01.29

With their unapologetic punk/garage rock that reinvents those genres in ways that are compositionally more mature (and satisfying), Brooklyn quartet Honduras has been a band on the rise in 2014, a year during which they released two EPs: the more produced and somewhat atmospheric "Morality Cuts" in February, and the tenser "Break," out in November. They are now unveiling a new video for one of their more Ramonesque tunes, "Mistake" (streaming), which is the third and closing track of their latest EP. If you are a fan of the sound of the 70's, don't miss their upcoming show at Bowery Electric on January 29.

Weekly Feature: Honduras - live at Radio Bushwick on 04.26

Sounding like a faster punk version of the Arctic Monkeys or a mind-blowing Deerhunter/Sex Pistols fusion, Honduras (another band that's playing a lot these days) have really been stepping it up lately, especially with their latest single “Borders” (check out the video below). The Brit-sounding muffled vocals of Pat Phillips combined with the band’s knack for clean, well-tempered guitar work and percussion makes for a wild listen. Known for their energetic live performances, Honduras have a heavy Brooklyn presence and appear to be expanding pretty quickly, embracing the punk ideology without pretension while still letting you know they’re here. See them live at Radio Bushwick on April 26 and then at Pianos on May 10.

Weekly Features: Honduras releases EP tomorrow (03.01) + plays SXSW

NYC’s local quartet and hazy noise rockers Honduras have really been stepping it up lately, especially with their latest single “Borders” (streaming below). The 2012-founded band can be compared to a faster punk version of the Arctic Monkeys or a Deerhunter/Sex Pistols fusion. The Brit-sounding muffled vocals of Pat Phillips combined with the band’s knack for clean, well-tempered guitar work and percussion makes for a wild listen that will keep you looping their tracks. The band will be celebrating the release of EP ‘Morality Cuts’ tomorrow (03.01) with a show at Radio Bushwick, and then will travel south for a few SXSW showcases. - LINKS: Michael Haskoor's interview with Honduras.
