Laser Background

Laser Background LP Release Show Opening for Darwin Deez at JB’s Sept. 25

Laser Background commemorates the release of the band’s first full-length album Super Future Montage via La Société Expéditionnaire. Opening for the eccentric indie dance popsters Darwin Deez, the Andy Moholt-led four-piece delivers alluring rock-pop songs characterized by Moholt’s distinct vocal style and distorted image-generating lyrics met with a touch of carnival-esque creep-ride that nearly comes off the rails, but inevitably rights itself. This ability allows Laser Background to playfully toe the threshold of psych-pop establishing their signature sound. Vincent Cacchione-fronted r&b/alt-pop outfit Caged Animals round out the bill, supporting their freshly released In the Land of Giants. Johnny Brenda’s 1201 N. Frankford Ave., 9pm, $12, 21+ - Michael Colavita

SandCastle Opening for Laser Background at KFN July 12

As the eerily grey clouds cast an ominous outlook on today's tone. They also serve as an excellent predictor of this evening's events at KFN, where a pair of devious, dark yet melodic musical creations is set to hit the stage. SandCastle takes their low-fi creepy vocal exterior and uses it to provide a fresh cover over a folky melodic core. This layered concept reaches out into a new frontier when energetic, spacey electronics are utilized allowing songs to branch out into unfound territory. They will be opening for Andy Moholt's deliciously twisted psych-pop concoction created with his band Laser Background. Their tunes hover over the threshold between carnivalistic deviousness and crystalized melodic pop. It’s an early show so hit happy hour and then head on over. Kung Fu Necktie, 1250 N. Front St., 7pm, $8, 21+ - Michael Colavita

New Track: "Disappearing Ink" - Laser Background

The song will also be on the band's forthcoming full-length album Super Future Montage. You can catch Laser Background performing live this Friday, July 12 when they headline at Kung Fu Necktie.
