Loose Buttons release "Sundays With" EP during Pianos residency

New York's very own Loose Buttons have been at it for ten years, and some already-released tracks from their upcoming EP -- titled Sundays With Loose Buttons -- already prove that the band's still in it for more. We wrote about a single from this EP -- "Milk & Roses" -- back in December, but you can stream the newest track, called "Between Brick Walls", below.

Loose Buttons are currently doing a month-long residency at PIANOS in the Lower East Side. After tonight, they'll play also on on February 15th and February 22nd, just ahead of the release, which is scheduled for February 24th. Keep an eye out for it. - Will Sisskind

Loose Buttons release 'Milk & Roses' from upcoming 'Sundays' EP +

NYC indie rockers Loose Buttons play moody and sophisticated indie pop reminiscent of a hybrid of The Strokes and Prefab Sprout - interesting combination indeed! Their brand new single 'Milk & Roses' (streaming) is the most consistently driven track they've released in a while, but somehow they still manage to make it sound mellow, which is a pretty cool skill to have. The quartet just announced a new EP entitled "Sundays," scheduled for a Febrtuary release, look out for an EP release party that month.

We dig Loose Buttons' new pop single 'Crowded Room'

While the thought of life after college terrifies many young adults during the final years of school, Brooklyn’s Loose Buttons know how to use their new-found free time: focusing on their indie rock band. Since graduating a few years ago, the quartet they’ve released a well received debut EP in 2014, opened for popular acts such as Grizzly Bear and My Morning Jacket (at the CBGB Festival) and also headlined big local venues like Brooklyn Bowl. The quartet’s 2016 single “Crowded Room” strays away from the fuzzy garage rock of their previous single “Thrill”, while bringing a more melodic and cleaner approach, referencing the sophisticated pop of the eighties of bands like Prefab Sprout and Talk Talk. The guitars and drums create the tracks compelling danceable rhythms, while Eric Nizgretzky’s placid vocals paint a vivid picture of making out in a crowded room until the song slowly fades as with rolling drums and moaning guitars. - John Honan, photo By: Spencer Kohn

We added this song to The Deli's playlist of Best songs by emerging NYC artists - check it out!

NYC Indie rockers Loose Buttons unveil video for "Thrill" and play CMJ

Loose Buttons are a young NYC based indie rock quartet bringing some sophistication (in the form of danceable grooves and refined guitars lines and melodies) to the gritty sound of the current local rock scene. Their latest track, released just a few weeks ago, is called "Thrill" (brand new video streaming below), and it's a radio-ready example of the band's talent. The guitars shift back and forth between garage-rock grit and reverb-heavy echoes, while Eric Nizgretzky's vocals carry on in an ever-so-slightly distorted way that works well with the head-bobbing rhythms of the drums and bass. The single is the group's first release since last year's second EP, "Damage Gallery," but there has been no word on whether another record is in the works. Loose Buttons will be performing on October 15 - 17, at Alphabet Lounge, Fontana's, and Rock Shop respectively, as a part of the 2015 CMJ Music Marathon. Check them out! - Patrick Wolff
