PET SUN - "THE DAWN" VIDEO

The handsome fellas in Pet Sun have just released a new music video for their tune "The Dawn" which is the opening track off their debut self-titled LP. The video is a good balance between a low budget horror movie and a 90's grunge video. The tune obviously rips with their Fender Mustangs cranked, bass lines groovin, Parth doin god knows what on drums and Stephane's vocals alternating between vicious yelling and soothing "aahh's". You should already own the Pet Sun LP. So watch this video now k? - Kris Gies

CANADIAN MUSIC WEEK - TOP GUN PICKS!

Canadian Music Weeks gets goin tonight right here in Toronto. Here are some bands you should keep on your radar!

Bike Thiefs - Monday May 2 @ Bovine Sex Club

3 piece alt-punk group out of Mississauga. Their name may be grammatically incorrect but if the Maple Leafs can do it then why not Bike Thiefs too.

The Naked Wild - Tuesday May 3 @ Bovine Sex Club

Catchy pop-rock group from Toronto. Past winners of the Delis Band of the Month Poll. Formerly a 3 piece but now employ a full time drummer. Go enjoy these easy rock tunes.

Stonetrotter - Tuesday May 3 @ Cameron House

Soulful rock n roll out of Barrie. Real Canadian tunes with nice harmonies and mellow guitarmonies. Cut from the same cloth as the Sheepdogs.

Pony - Wednesday May 4 @ The Silver Dollar Room

I've been waitin' to hear more from Pony. Hoping for a new record from them soon. These gals play very nice lo-fi garage pop that'll hook you instantly.

Pet Sun - Wednesday May 4 @ Smiling Buddha AND Friday May 6 @ Lee's Palace

One of our favorites here at the Deli. Pet Sun comes from Hamilton with top notch doom garage. They are about to take over so don't miss either of these opportunities to see them "before it was cool"

Ol'CD - Thursday May 5 @ Handlebar

Garage/surf/psych/all around awesome friggin' tunes. This band will make you want to party...straight up. They go on super late on Thursday so you'll be primed and ready. Don't even think about working on Friday.

Chastity - Friday May 6 @ Velvet Underground

Very mysterious band out of Whitby. Interesting tunes with cool arrangements and a laziness to the vocals that keeps you concentrated. Alt-rock with a progessive twist.

Get a CMW Pass and enjoy! -Kris Gies

KURT MARBLE - SILVER DOLLAR FRIDAY

Kurt Marble is a fuzz rocker from right here in Toronto. He released an EP last year titled "Notes". The record kicks off with an ultra fuzzy slow riffage tune called "Replacement" and intertwined in all the garage rock noise is a soothing vocal floating along to add a contrast to the music. It makes you wonder what mood to be in while listening. The next track is a bit of a psych-out..."Negative One Twelfth" begins with you thinking you're getting an acoustic folk jam but then the electricity kicks in and you're ready to hit the pits. It's the kind of noisy madness you would want to hear at the Silver Dollar Room on a Friday Night. Lucky for you Kurt Marble will be opening up for Pet Sun's Record Release Party at the Dollar this Friday! - Kris Gies

PET SUN - DEBUT LP!

Pet Sun has finally released their first full length record and it's about time! If you've had the chance to see this garage group from Hamilton live then you're probably just as excited as I am. They're "Feel Like I'm Going Away" EP was a bad ass intro to the band but this record takes them to new sonic levels. New track "The Dawn" kicks off the record with a swift punch to the face before sliding into previously released single "Never Quit". I literally can't handle one of the tunes though...in a good way...you ever been on a bus or in public and you see someone enjoying the music on their headphones way too much? That's me listening to "It's So Sweet". However if I needed to choose a track from the album to be my wrestling entrance music it would have to be "Demo Spunk". When the beat kicks in with the vocals is when the pyro hits and I step through the fog and creep through the smog en route to a world championship. This record is the real deal. Pet Sun are currently touring through the States. Catch their CD Release Parties on April 2nd at Doors Pub in Hamilton and April 15th at the Silver Dollar in Toronto. - Kris Gies

Pet Sun Showcase Grizzly New EP

Pet Sun has been one of my favorite bands to come around in the last year. They have 2 EPs and a single "Never Quit" available right now, but new tunes from them have been long awaited to say the least. Their new EP "Shade Driver" has three tunes on it. The first is a 6 minute dirty masterpiece "Dark Planet" which begins with a sweet guitar lick and a mellow groove. It expands into a full on garage onslaught for the chorus. Hold on, cause half way through they slow the pace down and turn the fuzz up ,which, in turn, essentially f*cks shit up. It's captivating; you'll get lost in the "Dark Planet". The following tune "Zenifer" is their fuzzy pop song; catchy rhythms and a sweet ass solo to finish it off. "Mrs. Warp" is the next track which has an extended guitar/vocal intro and an intense doom vibe. When the drums kick in it has a slow head bangin' feel to it. These guys like to tease; obviously I'm excited that they are releasing new tunes, but I just selfishly want a full record already! Go get "Shade Driver" by Pet Sun on physical disc or digital now!
