New Track: "My, My, My" - Purling Hiss

After trying out a more polished rock sound on his last album Weirdon, Mike Polizze has gone back to his roots for his latest forthcoming 7" Something. The new Purling Hiss EP finds Polizze recording himself on all the instrumentation at home on a four-track, shifting gears towards his earlier releases. You can take a listen to his latest single, "My, My, My," over at Impose MagazineSomething will be available on black and limited-edition red vinyl on February 19 via Brooklyn indie label Famous Class.

New Track: "Fumble Tumble" - Purling Hiss

“Fumble Tumble”, the freshly released song from Purling Hiss incorporates they’re customary raunchy riff haze within a key-jangling surf pop sound. The song is featured on their forthcoming EP Something, which will be released February 19 via Famous Class Records. Mike Polizze is scheduled to perform a solo set this evening at Johnny Brenda’s on a bill that also includes Rosali and The Weather Station.

Weekend Warrior, September 11 - 13

The kick-ass jams will be aplenty this Saturday night at Underground Arts. Headlining the stacked lineup will be one of my favorite bands of late prolific San Francisco garage rockers Thee Oh Sees. They don’t play Philly often enough so if you’ve never experienced them live in concert, you really need to make it happen. Thee Oh Sees have recruited rifftastic, psych-garage locals Purling Hiss to help blow out some eardrums. Iggy Pop-approved garage trio Residuels will return to the UA stage once again, after lending the group’s talents a couple of weeks ago for The Dude Hates Cancer after party benefit concert. Promising jazz-tinged, psych-rock newcomers Under the Clothesline will also be along for the wild ride. Underground Arts, 1200 Callowhill St., 9pm, $16, 21+ - Q.D. Tran

Free Download: Hopscotch Fest 9/5/14 - Spacin' + Purling Hiss

NYC Taper recently shared a rare treat that happened at this year's Hopscotch Fest. Philly favorite sons Spacin' and Purling Hiss joined their mighty forces on September 5, 2014 at Tir na Nog in Raleigh, North Carolina for an epic set that consisted of extended versions of 2 Spacin' songs ("Sunshine No Shoes" & "Titchy"), 3 Purling Hiss songs ("Learning Slowly," "Run From the City," & "Almost Washed My Hair" with Mary Lattimore on harp and Steve Gunn on guitar), and a cover of MC5's "American Ruse." You can stream and download the entire performance for free HERE. (Photo by acidjack)
