Mike Cammarata & Chris Radwanski Team Up to Form Born Losers Records

Creative compatriots Michael Cammarata (Residuels) and Chris Radwanski (having worked together in Night Panther, White Birds and Suburban Living) continue their collaborative endeavors, forming a new record label Born Losers Records. Later this week, Residuels set out on a stretch of West Coast tour dates supporting The Buzzcocks. Meanwhile, the label’s inaugural release, a 7” of the band’s new single “Ordinary,” can be purchased HERE, and will be officially released on Friday, May 13. Listen to the single below, and catch Residuels as they cap off their tour with a dual release show with Louie Louie on Friday, June 3 at Boot & Saddle (which will also be opened by Weekender).

Weekend Warrior, May 6 - 8

Still managed to miss seeing Queen of Jeans despite The Deli’s diligent coverage of the talented crew? Lucky for you that the month of May not only brings flowers, but also a vibrant bouquet of 60s-style flower-pop every Friday at Bourbon & Branch compliments of our beloved blossoming local artists Queen of Jeans. The band will have a month-long residency at B&B with performances every Friday featuring a different lineup of local acts. This week, we’ll be presenting the pairing their dreamy-textured 60’s girl-group pop with the 80’s new-wave textures of Suburban Living, whose musical interest falls more in line with Disintegration-era Cure but measures up to Queen of Jeans’ love of reverb-soaked pop sensibility. Joining in on the dreamy, poppy forays of the evening will be The Soft Spots, whose attempts to synthesize the best of the worlds results in tunes that are immediately appealing on the surface but derivationally complex. You can also catch Julia Rainer, a Philly singer-songwriter with a gentle, emotive voice and a powerful sincerity. Bourbon & Branch, 705 N 2nd St., 8pm, $10, 21+ - Bryce Woodcock

The Deli Presents Queen of Jeans May Residency Kickoff at Bourbon & Branch!

The "denimcore" ladies of Queen of Jeans will be hosting a series of shows this May at Bourbon & Branch, and The Deli Philly is happy to be presenting the kickoff bash for their month-long residency, which will also feature Suburban Living, The Soft Spots, Julia Rainer! And each Friday throughout May, they'll join forces with an eclectic cast of local music folks like Abi Reimold, Vita and the Woolf, and Curtis Cooper, whose shows will also be co-sponsored by our friends at WXPN, Y-Not Radio, JUMP, and Art in the Age. You can purchase your tickets HERE, and we highly suggest that you grab yours for The Deli event beforehand. It's a small room, and you don't want to get shutout!

Blood Sound Echoes 80's Nostalgia at Everybody Hits Feb. 19

Synths figure prominently in this evening’s lineup at Everybody Hits. Blood Sound, who has a release coming out on Manimal Vinyl (Bat for Lashes, Warpaint) very soon, echoes 80’s nostalgia, tapping into one’s pulse as the trio thumps and cracks, establishing a hair-raising shiver, which reaches out as a warm spellbinding danceable call to action. In one moment, heavy bass-driven pressure appears like an ominous signal of personal implosion; however, rather than falling victim to a collapse, Blood Sound dashes through the debris, dancing in a relieving celebration. With quick-acting beats smoothed over by lush vocals, the duo of Lockets enclose you in their synth-pop setting. And with fresh material in hand, QQQ draws one into its enthralling sonic vortex. Meanwhile, Suburban Living will maintain the flow whilst spinning a DJ set throughout the evening. Everybody Hits, 529 W. Girard Ave., 8pm, $5, All Ages - Michael Colavita

New Video: "No Fall" (Live - Out Of Town Films) - Suburban Living

Here is a live performance of one of our favorite songs off Suburban Living's self-titled LP. "No Fall" was recorded with the good folks from Out Of Town Films at their headquarters in Berks Warehouse. Suburban Living will be bringing the dance party this Friday, February 12 at Bourbon & Branch with Cheerleader and Surf Rock is Dead. (Photo by Melissa Anne Tilley)
