Taiwan Housing Project

Weekend Warrior, May 5 - 7

Psychic Teens orchestrate gloomy, ruminating, melodic post-punk with volatile noisy tendencies, magnifying the murky slow burn into a full-on, shoegazing spectacle. Tonight, the trio celebrates their latest album HEX (available via Hex Records) with a release show at Boot & Saddle, where they’ll explore the darkness via steel-cold, slicing guitars and booming, brooding, baritone vocals. They’ll be joined by the combative, grunge-punk quartet of Tiny Vices and the ferocious, fuzzed-out, psych instrumentations meets clairvoyant, catchy vocals of Dulls. And after releasing their sophomore album New Kind of Normal via their own label Plum Records earlier today, Augusta Koch, Allegra Anka and Kelly Olsen, a.k.a. Cayetana, welcome their introspective, honest, emotive rock release this evening with a show at First Unitarian Church, where they’ll be supported by Shannen Moser, Katie Ellen, and Aster More.

A day after releasing their new LP Veblen Death Mask via Kill Rock Stars, the enchanting, eclectic experimentation of Taiwan Housing Project steps into Johnny Brenda’s, wielding their off-kilter, jigsaw-puzzle sound, meshing the hauntingly unexpected with the inherently gripping. They’ll be sharing the stage with the mind-warping psych-punk of Igneous Eyes and ESCAPE-Ism, the latest project from D.C. stalwart Ian Svenonius.

The crowds head back to Boot & Saddle this Sunday for a March On Harrisburg Benefit, featuring the exuberant, melodic, psych-folk stretches of Pine Barons. They’ll be donating their time along with the get-loose, retro-fitted psych-pop of Ceramic Animal and harmony-harnessing trio of TIOGA. - Michael Colavita

New Taiwan Housing Project LP Available for Streaming

Spellbinding, noisy, experimental, unfiltered rock that resonates and lingers, Veblen Death Mask, the new album from Taiwan Housing Project, will be officially released tomorrow via Kill Rock Stars, but you can currently stream it in full over at Noisey. The album may feel chaotic at first; however, those non-traditional instrumental combinations create an engaging unpredictability, while still capturing pop sensibilities amid the heavy churning undertow. Catch Taiwan Housing Project’s record release show this Saturday, May 6 at Johnny Brenda's with Igneous Eyes and ESCAPE-ISM!

New Track: "Authentic Alien Perfume" - Taiwan Housing Project

“Authentic Alien Perfume,” the first single off Taiwan Housing Project forthcoming album Veblen Death Mask (available on May 5 via Kill Rock Stars) lights a fire under you. With an intoxicating, immediate, rolling-through-the-neighborhood groove complemented by unrestrained, rattling, noise-guitar riffs, the interplay of dual-fronted vocals, and brisk brutal blasts of saxophone, the track refuses to be bound by a predetermined script. Catch the band’s record release show on May 6 at Johnny Brenda’s with Igneous Eyes, Ursula, and Ian Svenonius!

Taiwan Housing Project Sign to Kill Rock Stars

Congrats to noise-punks Taiwan Housing Project for signing to Kill Rock Stars! The revered indie label announced that they'll be releasing the band's EP Three Song Record, which originally surfaced via M'Lady's Records as a self-titled seven-inch. Willfully inaccessible and unapologetically harsh, feel free to take the album for a spin (once again) below. It just might be what you need today to shake off the recent horrific Trump announcement of white nationalist/antisemite/"alleged" domestic abuser Steve Bannon's appointment to the position of White House Chief Strategist. We haven't been overreacting. This isn't normal. Don't let them fool you into thinking that it is. Let's get ready for a battle, folks.

New Taiwan Housing Project EP Available for Streaming & Purchase

Project Kiki, the latest release from Taiwan Housing Project, searches for a signal in a buzzing labyrinth. Enter the noise-littered land of experimentation! As we await their new LP, this EP combines the feel of amplified nature with a futuristic spin.
