Shoegaze trio Tennis System release video for new single "C O M I N G D O W N"

On C L E A R E R, the previous video Tennis System released off of their latest LP, P A I N, a young woman is caught up in the midst of a personal dilemma as the rest of the world continues to move on. Continuing on this theme, the restless shoegaze trio once again focuses on this character's plight on the video for their latest single, C O M I N G D O W N. This time, though, the young woman is put front and center, as we see her go by her day in a hazy state of lethargy and solitude. Let the trio shimmer a guiding light on this narrative, since their cascading noise hits with an emotional pulse unlike we've seen from them before. - Juan Rodríguez

Tennis System will perform at Teragram Ballroom in support of post-rock duo El Ten Eleven on November 29. P A I N is out now on all streaming platforms.

Echo Park Rising 2015 Lineup Announced

The fifth annual Echo Park Rising has announced the 2015 lineup! The initial lineup includes heavy hitters like Blank Tapes, Dengue FeverRoses, Fever The Ghost, Hanni El Khatib, and Kera and The Lesbians as well as Deli features Media Jeweler, Liphemra, Tennis System, Winter. More acts will be announced in the coming weeks.

Celebrating local music, arts, and small businesses, Echo Park Rising transforms several bustling routes into a summer weekend block party, with events happening through the afternoon and into the night. Yearly participants of Echo Park Rising include iam8bit Gallery, Stories Books and Café, Lot 1, The Echo/Echoplex, Bedrock LA studios, and the signature French restaurant Taix which sits at the crossing of Sunset Blvd and Park Ave. The event is free and all-ages (sans spaces that serve alcohol), but Echo Park Rising is currently offering VIP 3-day passes for exclusive viewing access, line-skip privileges, easy bar access, and limited-quantity souvenirs. VIP 1-day passes will be available when full lineup is announced.

Echo Park Rising was created in 2011 by several club and business owners to quickly replace the Sunset Junction festival, according to LA Times. Last year's festival included performances by Cherry Glazerr, Allah-Las, Crisis Arm, Bur Gur, and Tapioca and the Flea. Sound advice: avoid parking near the lake on afternoons. - Ryan Mo

Bloody Candy's new album "Dead Moon", plays Echo 6.15.15

If you were taken by the earlier renditions of femme-fronted Blood Candy's "Dead Moon" and "Heart Attack" you'll love what they did in their newest album. Released digitally on June 5th via Buddyhead Records, the album Dead Moon was recorded and mixed by Joe Cardamone (The Icarus Line) at Valley Record Company and includes studio reworks of songs only previously heard live such as "Starcrush" and "Honey". The album showcases Blood Candy's blend of fuzz and reverb that mingles like lovers' sweat and cigarette smoke — cinematic enough to be featured in a Lost In Translation montage, a Geek and Sundry show, or even your next mixtape/playlist.

Bloody Candy is supporting Tennis System's Echo residency with Seaweed Salad and ASS LIFE tomorrow; come through and see them live if you missed them this past weekend with the Warlocks! - Ryan Mo

The fiercely fuzz post-punkers Blood Candy to release debut EP "Dead Moon"

Sweet and sanguine, the Los Angeles-raised Tara Harris might be the sister Karen O wishes she had. Too bad though; she's already got her mates Cliff Frelix (guitar), Nicky Kamrava (bass), and Tammy Hirata (drums) in their year-old lo-fi fuzz baby: Blood Candy.

Black Tambourines and The Jesus and Mary Chain comparisons aside, Bloody Candy leaves a metallic taste in your mouth and a ring to your ears that lasts an entire weekend. In the short amount of time they've been together, the four have worked with Joe Cardamone of The Icarus Line, graced LA's one-and-only Part Time Punks, and played with the likes of Tashaki Miyaki, King Woman, and The Stargazer Lilies.

Bloody Candy will support the neo psychedelic rangers The Warlocks at The Wayfarer in Costa Mesa on June 10th, and again at The Bootleg Theater on June 13th with Magic Wands. You can also catch them at Tennis System's Echo residency on Monday the 15th. Listen to "Heart Attack" below and watch for the digital release of their debut album "Dead Moon" tomorrow! - Ryan Mo

Tennis System premieres "Such a Drag" video, plays first residency at The Echo tonight

June marks the official start of summer, and Tennis System kicks it off by premiering the video for "Such a Drag" from the 2014 album Technicolor Blind. Guitars shimmer and crackle in this down-tempo memento, but the song is anything but a drag — Matty's and Zach's harmonizing "oohs" swirl amongst the torrent of sound through fast and slow rhythms courtesy of ex-member Misha Bullock's impeccable drumming.

Check out Tennis System's first night of residency tonight at The Echo with The Primals, Sunset Sons, and Bonfire Beach — it's free, so what's stopping you? - Ryan Mo
