Representin' Mississauga...3 brothers loaded with talent and like this new track suggests...they won't change. This track "I Won't Change" is a bluesy ripper of a tune. Sweet licks and double vocals throughout. The Ballroom Babies were recently shortlisted for 97.7 HTZ FM Rock Search Contest and let's be real...they should have won it all. This track is just a sample of what you can hear from these guys at Cherry Cola's on Saturday when they play with Flamingo Báy and Retroaction in support of Womb's Album Release. - Kris Gies

Toronto rock trio Womb are getting ready to release their latest album "Situation Normal, All Fucked Up" this spring and they have done us the pleasure of unleashing a new track! "Lotus Twist" has some interesting parts going on. It has almost a circus feel to it with thumping drums and mesmerizing guitar parts. They always find ways to add a swingy-jazz element to their grunge rock sound. Singer/guitarist Ragwax might give you the creeps with his dragging vocals throughout this track. The Lotus Twist will make your head twist as Womb leads you down the path to the unknown world that Womb came from. Actually I think they came from Ajax but you know what I mean. Womb will be celebrating their record release on June 18th at Cherry Colas along with Flamingo Báy, The Ballroom Babies and The Retroaction. Have a listen to "Lotus Twist" below. - Kris Gies

A trio of seasoned vets based in Hamilton; The Zilis have been playing together in some form for almost a decade if not more. These fellas know their rock n' roll and they can also shred their instruments. Drummer Zander Lamothe and bassist Justin Bozzo have scooped up individual instrument awards in recent years at the Hamilton Music Awards and guitarist Sean Royle with still shred you to pieces. They'll play all night if you let em and they can improvive with the best of 'em. I highly recommend both of their albums "Sketches" and "Sketches II". They are part of a very deadly lineup at the Cameron House on Saturday also featuring Womb, Olivia & The Creepy Crawlies and The Kerouacs. Tunes at 9:30. - Kris Gies

Their names might not be Depp, Hanks and Costner but they are still Big Name Actors! A power pop trio based in Toronto. They have some nice tunes. Catchy and simplistically sweet. They just recently re-mixed and re-mastered their EP "Morning Sun". It was free until a month ago so you're going to have to drop a few bucks for it now....it's clearly worth it. Might just have to skip your Starbucks today but I think you can handle that. Big Name Actors sound very 90's which is awesome. Singer/guitarist Hugh Wilson has some Craig Northey from the Odds in his voice...I feel a little bit of Gin Blossoms in there too but there's more of an edge to it still. My top gun picks from their "Morning Sun" EP are "Make It Shine" and "Name Your Price". The former for sure should be spinning on radio stations across the land. That doesn't matter though...they all can be spinning on your favorite device for just a few bucks. Go get "Morning Sun" from Big Name Actors and see them LIVE on Thursday at The Horseshoe Tavern with the Zoes, Womb and The Lipstick Junkies. - Kris Gies

Womb...a 3 piece rock trio originally from the Ajax area and now based in Toronto. They say it nicely themselves "a group of musicians who keep it raw and full of swing." They play some pretty dirty rock but their tunes definitely have some swing and jazz influences running about. Lead singer/guitarist Ragwax is a jazz guy himself...often playing solo gigs all over Ontario when Womb isn't raising hell. Good news folks, they have a brand new album on the way later this year called "Situation Normal, All Fucked Up". They just released the first single and video from the upcoming album. The track is called "Everything Is Gonna Be Alright". It's a really groovy track...the verse parts will keep your head bobbing and toes tapping. It has a retro feel to it as well. Something that could be playing at the diner while your grabbing a milk shake with that new girl in town. Really digging Ragwax's vocals in this track too...kinda lazy singing with just enough rasp in the voice. These fellas will be lighting up the stage at the Horseshoe Tavern on Thursday February 11th along with Big Name Actors, The Lipstick Junkies and the Zoes. Have a listen to this new track from Womb.
