New Music Video: "We Are One" - Mose Giganticus

It's been nearly six years since we've heard any new music from local metal keytar maestro Matt Garfield, a.k.a. Mose Giganticus. Well, Garfield is back (on drums), and has teamed up with Red Planet producer Joe Smiley (on guitar). Check out the duo's beautifully lit music video for "We Are One"! Directed by Christopher Kayfield and Garfield, the heavy post-rock track is the follow-up to 2010's Gift Horse (which was released via Relapse Records), and is the first from the band's new ongoing digital Singles Series.

Hogwasche brings industrial metal to St.Vitus on 5.25

New York industrial metal outfit Hogwasche's excellent debut MBM has established them as the new heavy hitters in the EBM (Electronic Body Music) world. The band only had their first show in February of this year, and has already gotten to play shows with the wildly popular EBM and industrial act Youth Code. Hogwasche doesn’t just rely on electronic beats; guitarist and bassist Nix’s work adds to the band’s interestingly layered sound. They blend the EBM and metal genres by alternating between clean and screamed vocals. Hogwasche will be playing at Saint Vitus on May 23rd in support of Weedeater. Check out their opening single 'Escape a Curse' below!

New Gondola EP Available For Streaming & Purchase

Recorded during the same sessions that resulted in their Get Bent album, Gondola recently issued a new EP The Floating East. The triad of songs captures a possessing mind-warping heaviness. The sticky fire of guitar licks slices through, unifying the pounding propulsion of bass and percussion as the vocals steer from deep in the valley. Catch the trio in the opening slot at Underground Arts Saturday as part of a lineup that also includes Creepoid, Kohoutek, and Dead Meadow.

New Music Video: "Emotional Collapse" - Hound

Hound frontman Perry Shall looks like he's having the best time getting the worst presents at his bday celebration in the band's new music video for "Emotional Collapse". The faux home-movie backdrop gives way to some bitchin' heavy-psych jams that are found on their latest LP Out Of Space (SRA Records). Enjoy!

Brooklyn post-hardcore band DRIFTOFF returns from European tour

Blending the classic post-hardcore guttural screams with an epic, often tense, but always intelligible wall of distorted guitars reminiscent of shoegazer, Brooklyn emerging band DRIFTOFF (born from a rib of Boston's Junius) comes across as brutal and ethereal at once. The band has just returned from a five week long tour that took them from New Haven's Bar on February 10 to the Tiefgrund in Berlin on March 17, with in-between dates in NYC (Bowery Ballroom), Island, the Netherlands and Italy. Now, that sounds like a pretty awesome vacation! No local shows in sight for them at the moment.
