Brews Willis @ Lee's Palace

I've noticed the band name Brews Willis before and thought it was awesome. So of course I wasn't surprised when their tunes were pretty sweet too. "Party's Over" sounds like it came straight from the 90s. Props to the singer's mustache too. The next track was "Great Energy" from their previous release of the same name. "Great Energy" started with some cool reverby surf guitar and would morph into a full on punk rock song that has...yup...great energy. The ooh wee ooh's in the chorus added a nice touch. They're playing Lee's Palace on May 7th for Canadian Music Week. Killer gig for a deadly band. Go!-Kris “Big City” Gies

Flamingo Báy- Steak n' Eggs

Give us some Steak n’ Eggs! Yummy, greasy, deliciousness! Flamingo Báy serves it up with their second album ‘Steak n’ Eggs’, giving us plate licking rock n’ roll goodness that has us asking for more. Keeping their raw rock n’ roll sound from their first album ‘Loco Pony’; Flamingo Bay adds a little more salt and pepper to Steak n’ Eggs. The single, “Killer Flamingo Báy”, opens with a raw vocal that rhythms its way to body swaying bass tones, hard hitting drum beats and guitar riffs that take you for a ride. The entire album shows Flamingo Báy’s creative diverse rock n’ roll energy. Don’t miss their cd release party Friday 4/24 @ This Ain’t Hollywood… come get your Steak n’ Eggs!

TEENANGER @ Steamwhistle Brewing Co.

I was watching an intense hockey game when I threw on Teenanger's latest record EP LP. It opens up with "Fly on the Wall" which fit the frantic mood of the hockey game perfectly. A throwback to punk rock of the 70s and 80s it is a reminder that rock n' roll is all about the energy. I had to skip to the last track on the album because it had such a sweet name... "Hot Rods At The Loser Convention." It had a groovier beat to it and I don't think they're very impressed with whoever inspired the track. Teenanger has honed their craft since 2010 and they'll be taking their show across the pond next month. You have the opportunity to party down with them on Friday April 17th @ the Steamwhistle Brewing Company. Crush beers and bang your head like a teenager with Teenanger on Friday.- Kris “Big City” Gies

Radio Free Universe @ This Ain't Hollywood

Radio Free Universe struck gold at the Horseshoe Tavern Monday night, putting on a fierce and bold rock n’ roll showcase performance. Stopping you in your tracks with a wickedly large vocal by front man, George Panagopoulos; his voice is layered and carried by pure rock n’ roll sounds. RFU showcased their pre-release single “American Gun” , it’s a huge track that rushes you like a speeding train. It opens with familiar throbbing drum beats that get your boots stompin’, then rolls sweetly into an unforgettable vocal that rips hard to wailing guitars. Stay tuned this Sept for RFU’s EP release of Casa Del Diablo. But you don’t have to wait too long to see them again, Radio Free Universe is playing Friday 4/17 @ This Ain’t Hollywood.
