Long Beard play Baby’s All Right on 02.29

Sleepwalker, Long Beard’s debut album, is aptly named, for listening to each song feels like maneuvering through the hazy edges of your most melancholic dreams – both here and there, warm, and cool, so close and yet so distant.  Perpetually teetering between sleep and awake, the album opens up with an instrumental track that sounds like it's being played backwards, slowly leading into “Porches,” a song of desire and longing where Leslie Bear pleads “who do you love?/ Who do you love?/ And is it enough?” The album climaxes at "Dream" - before the vocals start disintegrating, becoming almost indiscernible, with the looping electronic textures folding into themselves – as if the silhouette of those gentle songs disappeared into a shadow and then became nothing more than a film blanketing the early hours of dusk.

“Please don’t forget/ You’re something I listen to/ When I’m not sleeping.”

Don’t miss Long Beard performing at Baby’s All Right with Emily Yacina, Yohuna, and Crosslegged on 2.29. - Adriana S Ballester

Poly announces full-length "Let's Have an Adventure" on yk records

We're going on four years since Poly released their one and only EP. With its pink and blue bouncy-lettered cover that bled right through to the neon pink vinyl and the sounds within, it was not only strikingly well-composed and just the right kind of twee, but it was outright precious. For a while, it looked like that might be all we'd get to hear of Poly's style of jazzy trad-pop. But woe to those of you who take pride in your collection of obscure one-off 45's, and bountiful joy to the rest of us; Poly has announced a proper full-length. Plenty has changed in four years but, aside from adding some instruments to the repertoire of their three-piece lineup, Poly's sound has remained sturdy as a rock—a cuddly rock, one that giggles when you squeeze it.

"Let's Have an Adventure" is due out on March 26 courtesy of yk records, purveyors of some of the highest-quality physical releases around. Preorders are up now and, yes, you absolutely do want a confetti-colored vinyl to add to your collection. -Austin Phy

Boston's Hana Kahn plays Middle East in Cambridge on 2/25

The sensual guitar-based songs of Boston singer/songwriter Hana Kahn compel with their emotional nakedness and elegant musicianship. On the January-released “Venus And Mars” (streaming below), for example, the strong-timbered Kahn boldly details solitude and longing with guitar strums that excitingly add up to what can rightfully be called peaceful sonority. Perhaps like the most moving tracks in the singer/songwriter genre, Kahn’s subtly bold tunes seem personal but, impressively, can speak to many. Hana Kahn plays at Middle East in Cambridge, MA on 2/25.- Zach Weg
