DOOMSQUAD

Mixing equal parts of melancholic down tempo and collective psychedelic acid-pop, Doomsquad is like a dark wave basement rave! Just think the Matrix Reloaded dance scene and wooden wind chime of the Woodland elves. Doomsquad creates an exploratory and psychedelic record “Kalaboogie.” At the albums most passive, percussion leads you through a winding forest path that keeps you wondering what you’ll hear next in the thicket beyond. Then you stumble upon a great bonfire that burns effervescent hues of emerald and amethyst as a great tribe of post-punk cheer and pulsating rhythm. If you’re into Grimes, Bishop Morroco, thumb pianos or meditation, then don’t lose out on getting lost in, “Kalaboogie”. See them Friday 11/21 @ Drake Underground.       -Claire Tollman, 'Brad has a great pair of pants.'

Grand Format

An intelligent balance of psych-punk-pop-rock! Grand Format describes their style as "bubble-gum freak-rock"....Well they're definitely onto something! Every track I have heard from these guys is killer! Rhythmic vocals that excite the senses with layered blends of experimental pop melodies inspired by 50's & 60's rock n' roll. It's totally addictive! Grand Format's latest track Analog (Keep Runnin') grabs you with funky flanged guitars and sensational alternative vocals. It's a DANCE PARTY I can't stop listening too! Get your groove on below! Tune into bandcamp and listen to their self-tiltled EP.

NYC (Via Toronto) Artist on the Rise: Foxes in Fiction tour Europe

The brainchild of Torontonian composer Warren Hildebrand, who recently relocated to NYC, Foxes in Fiction has been creating its own brand of atmospheric mellow pop since 2010. Latest album "Ontario Gothic" offers a collection of invariably downtempo songs featuring a lush production and an arsenal of intriguing melodies and sounds. The album's running theme is Warren's recovery from the death of his younger brother Drew in 2008, which probably inspired also his previous three records. Foxes in Fiction will be touring Europe this fall, and then play Music Hall of Williamsburg on January 29.

We added this song to The Deli's playlist of Best mellow songs by emerging NYC artists - check it out!
